Trip to Panama

Bitter Melon cooked with Eggs

This yummy and very nutritious recipe is from my mom. She serve this to us last Sunday. Ampalaya or bitter gourd is very much advisable to diabetic people. Ampalaya or Bitter melon is a tropical and subtropical vine of the family Cucurbitaceae, widely grown for edible fruit, which is among the most bitter of all vegetables.
Bitter melons are seldom mixed with other vegetables due to the strong bitter taste, although this can be moderated to some extent by salting and then washing the cut melon before use.
A traditional way to cook bitter melon curry is to peel off the skin and cut into thin slices. It is salted and exposed to direct sunlight for few hours to reduce its bitterness. After a few hours, its salty, bitter water is reduced by squeezing out the excess by hand. Then it's rinsed with water a few times. Then fried in cooking oil, with onions also fried in another pan.

Here's the Recipe

1-1/2 cups ampalaya, sliced thin crosswise
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1/2 cup tomatoes, sliced
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons shortening
1/4 cup onion, minced
1/4 cup water
Salt to taste

How to cook Ampalaya(bitter melon)With Eggs:

• Sauté garlic and onion in 2 tablespoons of shortening or oil. Add tomatoes and water, cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add sliced ampalaya, cover and cook for 3 more minutes. Season with salt.

• Add the beaten eggs spreading all over the vegetables. Cook over slow heat until the eggs are slightly firm. Add an extra 2 tablespoons of oil if necessary to keep the eggs from sticking.

• Avoid stirring the vegetables as it squeezes more of the bitter flavor of the vegetables and makes the dish unpalatable. Yield: 4 servings.

Eyeglasses

I love wearing eyeglasses. I prefer wearing them no matter how bulky they are than wearing contact lenses. Contact lenses are too risky and the improper way of using them may lead to some eye health problems like vision impairment or poor eyesight. I love wearing transparent eyeglasses because i'm not so comfortable with shaded glasses. Nowadays, these eyeglasses serve not just for eye protection but also as a fashion statement.
I usually match up my glasses with the clothes that i'm wearing. I feel more decent if i am wearing these glasses but ofcourse i hate to wear eyeglasses which are too bulky for i may look nerd or weirdo.

Metal Garden Shed

My mom loves gardening and she really exert efforts to grow those lovely ornamental plants in our yard. Aside from her colorful ornamental plants, she also have some useful plants that she mostly used for some of her favorite recipes. She also have some medicinal plants and herbs which is very useful. She also hired some garden designers before to help her organized her garden. She even bought books that shares some useful gardening tips and proper tools and equipements to be used for some gardening procedures.

Speaking of Tools and equipments, I've noticed that my mom is having a hard time thinking of where to place those heavy gardening tools and equipments. Currently she's placing everything in my dad's garage which really took a lot of space in our garage. I have read this over Yahoo! It's the "8 fat fighting Foods" Well let see if this 8 fat fighting foods really work in digesting fats.

• Almonds - it was said that Dieters who ate 3 ounces of these nuts every day reduced their weight and body-mass index. Now here's my problem, I only get chance to eat almonds when i buy Hershey's Kisses^^Sad to say Chocolates and other sweet delicacies build up fats!
  
• Berries - Vitamin C–loaded fruit such as strawberries and raspberries can help you sizzle up to 30 percent more fat during exercise. Berries are really hard to find in my country unless i went to Baguio and buy some packs of it!
• Cinnamon - his spice could make your waistline nice. I hate the taste of Cinnamon so i guess i can't take it!
• Mustard - The spice that gives mustard its color, turmeric, may slow the growth of fat tissues. Did you say Mustard? I prefer Custard ! its color Yellow too right?
• Orange - Prevent pound creep with this citrus star: It contains fat-torching compounds called flavones. Among all the foods that was being mentioned , this is the only fruits i ate the most!
• Soy Beans - These green gems are rich in choline, a compound that blocks fat absorption and breaks down fatty deposits. Add ½ cup edamame to a salad. I love soybeans, here in Philippines we have what we called "taho". It is a sweet soya drink made out of soya beans of course!
• Sweet potato - hey’re high in fiber, which means no drastic insulin jumps and thus less fat packed onto your hips. I love Sweet potato! My mom usually include this to some of her recipes!
• Swiss Cheese - Calcium-rich foods reduce fat-producing enzymes and increase fat breakdown. Okay! we only serve Swiss Cheese during Christmas eve!

My Grandma was diagnosed to have a Liver Cancer. I grew up with my Lola (a tagalog term for Grandmother) and i spent most of my time with her since both of my parents are working. I know God has a reason for everything and i am giving all my faith to him. May my lola will live longer and her illness will be cured. Currently she is undergoing series of medication. Her disease affected most of her organs like lungs, eyes and heart. Please pray for my Lola and for her immidiate recovery.

This is the first time that Playboy Magazine has given a spot to a cartoon character. Marge Simpson posed barely nude to this newest Playboy Magazine cover. And the magazine is giving the star of "The Simpsons" the star treatment, complete with a data sheet, an interview and a 2-page centerfold.
The magazine also hopes to turn the November issue into a collectors' item by featuring Marge, sitting on a chair in the shape of the iconic Playboy bunny, on the cover of only the magazines sold in newsstands. Subscribers get a more traditional model on the cover.

My first ever Cellphone

This is my Nokia 1200, it is my first ever cellular phone i bought for my self from my daily school allowance. I'm really proud of it so im still keeping it even though i already have a new one. See! it is working still. I like it because it is very durable, i remember how many times it fells badly on the floor which does'nt cause any damage. How about you? Happy Second Blogoversary!

I'am so proud for my self for reaching 2 consecutive years in blogging. Yup! I've been into blogging for exactly two years! My very first blog is my "Top Five" which is formerly called "Bluedreamer's Paradise".
After few months, i've created another 2 blogs; Pinoy Alphabet and Scene to Remember, both of them are sticking only into one theme Pinoy Alphabet will let you know everything about Filipino in an alphabet way while Scene To Remember is all about inspiring movies.

One month after, i created a very unusual blog which i called "World of Creeps" that features horror/ suspense movies. From Chucky of Child's Play to Freddie Krueger of Nightmare in Elm Street"

While facebook is not that popular in the Philippines, i used to become active with my Friendster Blog which was entitled "Bluedreamer's Confession". This blog was intended to encourage my friends into blogging.

The time that Tags, Memes and Blog Awards are very popular, i decided to create a blog all for them. I called it "All for Tags, Tags for All"

But After few months "All for Tags, Tags for All" changed its title to "Just an Avid Fan". The main theme of the blog featured celebrities that i am a big fan of.

Few months after, i decided to create "Entablado", a blog written in my own language and it is my very own novel made out of 20 chapters.

After a year, major changes had been made to my blogs.
"Pinoy Alphabet" change its theme to Philippines' current news and events and later change its title to "Philippine TV Marathon"
While Scene To Remember was changed to "Song To Remember". The main theme changed from Movies to everything about Music.

I decided to delete my Just an Avid Fan because of a very low popularity.

I created a blog for all my Interesting Blog Awardees and named it as "Breaking the Boundaries"

My "Entablado" got major changes. The Title was changed to "Super Blog", a blog about super heroes.

few months later, i created a blog that will serve as my personal diary entitled "Simply Blue"

I decided to create a new blog entitled "Tv Marathon" as an extension of my "Philippine Tv Marathon"
"Philippine Tv Marathon" changed its title to "Online Journey" and the theme was change from Tv and movie reviews to Book, games, and gadget reviews.

My "Top Five" remained on its own theme while "Breaking the Boundaries" start sharing inspiring articles and stories.

I also made my "Positive Thinker" blog to teach some ways towards positive thinking.

I gave my "Simply Blue"blog to my younger sister and change its title to "Our Little Corners"

I created "Blog Idol", a Blog for my Blog Idol Competition and served as an official page for all my blog idol participants

Recently, i got three new websites with an owned domain. (not under blogspot)
Blue Dreamer is a site that give focus to Health, Home, Fashion and Living
Feed Your Mind is all about Foods, Drinks, Health and more
while My Adventures is all about my personal interest including my articles and more.

I also created "The Comic Series" blog, my first ever Web Comic

My "world of creeps" changed its title to "Just Buzzing" and transported all my creeps to "World Of creeps 2"

Oh i have a new site entitled "My daily Newsstand" too

Dining in at the Country Style

Yesterday, after we have watched GI.JOE, which is very impressive, i decided to treat my friends and buy them some doughnuts from the "Country Style". We enjoyed watching movies and spent more than 2 hours sitting so i think we deserve this delightful price. Oh how i love their Tripple Choco Boom as i matched it with their brewed hazel nut-Flavored Coffee. I bought another dozen with assorted flavors for my mom and my siblings. I think i found a new hang out place at Country Style.
By the way, ill make sure to try their Wrap-a-ham and Wrap-a-dog sandwiches. I think it is perfect to match with their Pasta dishes.

Cory Aquino Day Proposal

Senator Mar Roxas filed a resolution declaring January 25 , the date of birth of former President Corazon Aquino, as " Cory Aquino Day"
President Cory who passed away on August 1, deserves to be honored yearly for her crucial role in the revival of democracy in our country. According to the senator, everyone should look up to Cory as a symbol of he fight against corruption.
Former President has demonstrated in the clearest terms that steep moral values and strength character are what our nation need in times of unabated corruption and political and social decay.
During her Administration, Corazon Aquino , endearingly called as "tita Cory" by the people, took on the mission to run after the riches stolen from the nation during Martial Law years!
The House of Representative were also expected to pass a similar resolution!
Well, i think President Cory deserves it!

A farewell to Cory

Losing a Former President is not easy to accept especially if she've done something for you and for your country. I was a bit surprised as i heard that Former President Corazon Aquino died. She marked out a History for being the first woman president of the country and she's very notable for her deeds in the first People Power Revolution.
The former president died at 76. She was diagnosed to have Colon Cancer and the main reason of her death.

Learning Process of Kids

Children cannot develop in an optimum manner unless their physical needs are met like providing them with prore nutrtion, clean air and secure environment. Apart from these needs, the child must be surrounded by adults who are caring and available to help them meet these basic needs. Children also need a learning environment that will encourage them to explore and experience the world. The world is the child's source of knowledge and classroom is now the only place wherein a child will discover new learnings.
Every child is naturally inquisitive. When the child is curious, he investigates he is own little world. You give him ball, he squeezes, bounces and smells it.In the process of carefully studying the ball, he discovers answer to questions about the ball.For Children the learning process is important than the final product.
